The psoriasis exchange program aims to give both communities the opportunity to learn from each other. The funding of this project was made possible through the initiatives of Ms. Krooks. The protocol was made last year during Mr. De Guzman’s visit to Sweden.

Swedish Youth with Psoriasis going to the Philippines

In a country where media and advertising tend to put much emphasis on beauty, many people with psoriasis endure pains of isolation from society because of skin their condition. Having low-esteem towards oneself is common to most people with psoriasis. For many Filipinos with psoriasis, pampering oneself on spa and the likes is almost exclusive to those with normal skin. Psorphil Online Community and Schering Plough gifted some members of the psoriasis community with a 2-day re-TREAT of absolute pampering and relaxation on May 19-20, 2007.

Educational tour at Ilog Maria in Cavite. Lunch and sightseeing in Tagaytay. A soothing massage, hair treatment, massage, foot spa and all other spa activities. A banquet of freshly cooked food. Swimming, singing, lounging with people who will never judge you. The best part of it? It was free for all the participants.

A lot of the participants voted for the relaxing meditation conducted by Cancer specialist Dr. Alex Delgado as the best part of the activity. An elderly dad confessed to the group that he wept in euphoria, such feeling he missed in a very long time. The arts and craft portion was among the favorites too. It is really hard to determine which one is the best. It really does not matter. What is important is -- for a couple of days, each of us revisited a world of no worries, a world far from chaos, a world where everyone felt good about ourselves. Special thanks to Leo Pharma for providing the transportation for some members.

Beauty, Money and Wellness.. A success.

For our 2nd anniversary, we have launched the National Psoriasis Conference (NPC2K7) where PsorPhil has invited some of the top doctors to give a series of lectures and talks for the psoriasis community. It was also where we launched the PsorPhil Livelihood Assistance Network (PLANET). PLANET aims to assist the poorest members of the psoriasis community with livelihood assistance that will enable them to afford their medications and daily sustenance for their families. Part of the proceeds that will be generated from the publication of PsorONLINE will initially fund this project. The first batch of grantees was announced on August 18, 2007.
