World Psoriasis Day 29 October. A global consortium of patient associations from all over the world have come together and this day has officially been declared World Psoriasis Day.

 

Its purpose? To act as a focus for people - awareness of psoriasis and to give these people the attention and consideration they deserve.

 

PsorPhil has been actively participating in this global endeavor since 2005.

The Psoriasis Philippine (Psorphil) online support group at yahoogroups.com was created last August 18, 2005 by Mr. Josef De Guzman through the prodding and encouragement of Dr. Vermen M. Verallo-Rowell. Since then, more and more Filipino people who have psoriasis, not only in the Philippines but throughout the world, find comfort and support from the online members who share their insights about dealing with psoriasis. 

 

Since 2005, the members of Psorphil have been proactive in the advocacy of people who have psoriasis.  They give their full support to others who are in the same condition. They reach out even to those who do not have any access to the internet, those who withdraw from society because of an uninformed public’s inconsiderate reactions, and those who do not have access to modern medical treatments. The Psorphil online support group is dedicated to give its best effort to bringing out the very best from its members.  It encourages each member to join psorclub meetings in different hospitals. 

 

It celebrated its first anniversary last August 18, 2006.  It was a resounding success as members coming all the way from different provinces and Metro Manila filled the function room of Dampa Cubao, Quezon City. It was attended by some of the most venerated Doctors of the PDS, friends from different pharmaceutical companies, and members of the press.

 

Psorphil Online is now duly registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) as Psoriasis Philippines Online Community, Inc.  It is a “Community of Real People Helping Real People” aiming to reach out, not only to indigent Filipino people who have psoriasis, but to all who are in need.

 

PsorPhil’s has spearheaded successful projects like:

1.     The Funwalk@Baywalk 2005, 2006 and 2007 - in celebration of World Psoriasis Day.

2.     The mission-vision building workshop for NSAPPI in Manila Polo Club last February 26, 2005 attended by various psorclub members, respected Doctors, and friends from the pharmaceutical industry who helped facilitate the said workshop.

3.     Beauty, Money and Wellness (BMW). May 19-20, 2007

4.     National Psoriasis Conference 2K7 – August 18, 2007

5.     Hug Me Campaign – September 16, 2007
